About the Lunchtime Draw
Lunchtime is one of the two original UK49s draws, along with Teatime. Brunchtime and Drivetime were only added later, which is why older pages on the internet still talk about two draws a day. Lunchtime is also the draw this website is named after. Most of our readers asked for the midday result first, so it got the name and this page.
The draw itself is simple. Six main numbers are drawn from 1 to 49. One more ball is then drawn as the Booster Ball. The draw is run by 49’s Ltd in the United Kingdom and broadcast live by SIS. The same winning numbers apply everywhere, whether a result is checked in London or in Durban.
In South Africa the draw lands in the middle of the working day. In summer it falls at 13:49, close to most lunch breaks, and in winter at 14:49. That one hour shift twice a year causes most of the confusion we see in reader questions. The UK clock change is the cause. South Africa does not move its clocks, so the gap between the two countries changes from one hour to two.
